Today saw Leeds United’s fixtures for the upcoming season released with Bolton Wanderers away being the first test for new Head Coach Thomas Christiansen.

The Whites’ large fanbase has always meant their fixtures are given regular slots for television coverage. And this season is no different.

Sky Sports announced today that the Whites game against the Trotters on the opening day would be broadcast live, meaning they play a day later than the rest of the Championship.

It’s not the first time that Sky have moved Leeds’ fixture dates around, with last season seeing the Whites home game against Derby County which was originally set to be played on Saturday 14th January, moved to Friday 13th to suit Sky’s agenda.

This is a subject which frustrates most that follow the Yorkshiremen as well as some of the hierarchy, with former owner Massimo Cellino even stopping Sky from entering the ground in 2015.

Again, this game was against Derby and action was taken by the Italian due to the amount of games which had been moved for television purposes, with Cellino contesting the negative affect televised games have on attendances.

In spite of another of United’s fixtures being selected for television, the Leeds faithful will be glad to hear that every game played at the Macron stadium since 2012, has seen them go unbeaten against Bolton.

Although a lot of those games have seen several draws and few wins, Leeds will need to provide Christiansen with sufficient recruitment and tough tests during pre-season to prepare him and his squad for the opener.
