Is now time to play the youth?!

After Wednesday nights result, Leaving Leeds needing a miracle to get into the top 6 this season, is now a perfect time to start playing some of our highly regarded under-23’s?!

Wednesday nights performance was as drab as we’ve come to expect since the turn of the year, admittedly against a very good Wolves side, but still left after the game, uneasy at what we had all just witnessed again! The only player to come out of the game with any light is young Goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell who made 4 or 5 great saves on the night, and was deservedly Leeds’ man of the match, You’d expect him to keep his place for Saturday’s game.

Now they say playing the kids brings a sense of no fear, and with us really only having pride to play for, is now the time to start testing out these under 23 players we’ve been hearing so much about?! One that was mentioned in the pre match press conference yesterday was young 19 left-back Tom Pearce. Now left back is a position that you would say Leeds have had one of the biggest problems with this season and if the young left-back was to start on Saturday he’d be the 4th player in that position this season! Now you’d have to say Berardi and Anita are not starting left-backs in my eyes, De Bock seems to have struggled since joining and you can maybe forgive him for needing time to get use to the league but he’s not getting games at the minute so whether he just isn’t good enough is another story for a different day! And the less said about Borthwick-Jackson the better.

That Leaves us with highly rated youngster Tom Pearce, now yesterday’s press conference revealed that Heckingbottom was a fan of the young lad even when he was manager of Barnsley, the 40 year old said yesterday:” He’s someone who I actually asked about when I was manager at Barnsley and we played the Under-23s here. I asked Danny Schofield who I knew well and he mentioned him so I knew about him before I came.” Could he just be what we need?! He’s spoken highly of by a lot of people within Leeds United and the strongest indication of him maybe being involved was yesterday, known for his excellent delivery skills at youth level is he just what we need to help create more opportunities for the like of Lasogga who’s been basically feeding off scraps the last couple of games.

I’m sure we’ll find out on Saturday as another great following heads down south, 4,000 fans making the 4 hour journey down south with only pride at stake?! Could only be Leeds!!
